Maggie Hogan

Lifeguard/Waterman

An avid water woman, Maggie has been competitive in many different sports over her athletic career. She swam for UC Santa Barbara and quickly took to paddle sports. As an ocean lifeguard, she competed on 6 US National teams for Surf Lifesaving. Currently, she is an Olympic Hopeful in the sport of Sprint Canoe. Maggie will compete in her 20th World Championships this summer, and has represented team USA in five different water sports.

The 2015 summer racing season began this April with the Sprint Canoe US Team Trials. Maggie finished first in the K1 500 and K2 500 meter races, qualifying for the US National Team. This summer’s highlights include the Sprint Canoe World Championships in Italy; which is the sport’s first round Olympic qualifying race,  Surf Ski World Championships in Tahiti, and Marathon Canoe World Championships in Hungary.

In addition to paddle sports, Maggie enjoys surfing, sailing, traveling, and coaching young kids in various paddle disciplines.  She has been a lifelong fan of Hobie and Hobie Polarized. As a kid she learned to sail on a Hobie Cat 16, and her favorite longboard is a 9′ Hobie performance board. Her favorite training partner is her 3 year old Alaskan Malamute, Wrecks, who runs next to her when she trains on her home canal.
